WordPress Locally

How to Install WordPress Locally the Super Easy Way

If you want to just install WordPress locally on your PC, this this can be quite complicated, as there is so much to think about and a lot that can go wrong.

Instant WordPress the easy way

With Instant WordPress this is super simple, as you can just download, unpack and run the program and it arranges everything automatically. You can install WordPress locally on your PC or on a memory stick.

Instant WordPress should not be used to publish a blog or a website on the internet. This software is used to try out and experiment with WordPress, without publishing anything. Should you decide publish contents, you must use WordPress.com or WordPress.org.

Instant WordPress is a Windows application that has everything included in one package: Apache web server, PHP, MySQL database and WordPress. The program creates some posts automatically, so you can get started with your blog. Of course, you can delete these posts, and post your own. Instant WordPress is portable so you can take it with you anywhere.

If you want to remove Instant WordPress, simply delete the folder where the Instant WordPress is placed, and it will not leave any traces.

Download and install Instant WordPress

You can find Instant WordPress at the following web address instantwp.com. Add the installer (InstantWP) in the folder you want to install WordPress on, either locally on your PC or on a memory stick.

Run the installer and select the installation folder. You can then run InstantWP.exe file, located in the installation folder. You should then see a window with several choices:

You can use this window to gain access to what you want:

WordPress FrontPage displays the blog or website with a default theme. Editing posts and pages is via WordPress Admin.

WordPress Admin gives you access to the dashboard or control in WordPress. This is where you can enter posts om the local blog or website. Use admin for the username and password for the password. You can of course change the username and password using the control panel, but since this is local installation, and not on the internet, you do not have to worry about any security issues.

Plugins Folder gives you access to the folder extensions of your WordPress installation.

Themes Folder opens the folder where WordPress themes are located.

MySQL Admin and phpMyAdmin provides access to the database.
