Setting Your Browser to Accept Cookies

In this article you will learn how you can enable cookies in your web browser.

A cookie is a small amount of data that is stored by your browser and used to identify you. Viral Tech uses cookies to monitor the amount of visitors using the website. If your browser is configured to automatically refuse all cookies, you may not be able to use all the services provided on this website. If your browser is set so that cookies are not accepted, you will have to change it so that cookies are accepted.  

We are focusing on the following web browsers:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Google Chrome

* Internet Explorer (IE) 6-7:

Operating Systems:
- IE 6: Windows 2000 and XP
- IE 7: Windows XP

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options.
  2. Select the Privacy tab.
  3. Make sure that is set as the security level Medium or Low.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Close the browser and open it again.

* IE 8.0 for Windows:

Operating Systems:
- Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and 7

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options.
  2. Under "Browsing History" click Delete.
  3. Enable the checkbox for Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and History.
  4. Click the bottom of the Internet Options dialog box click the OK button.
  5. Close the browser and open it again.

* IE 9.0 for Windows:

Operating Systems:
- Microsoft Windows Vista and 7

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options.
  2. Under "Browsing History" click Delete.
  3. Make sure that the checkbox for Temporary Internet Files and Cookies are enabled.
  4. Click the bottom of the dialog box, click Delete.- Note: This button is located to the left of the "Cancel" button, which is highlighted by default.
  5. Close the browser and open it again.

Mozilla Firefox

* Firefox 2.0:

Operating Systems:
- PC Firefox 2.0 to 3.5: Windows 2000, XP and Vista
- Mac Firefox 2.0 to 3.5: Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6
- PC Firefox version 4.0: Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7
- Mac Firefox 4.0: Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7

    1. Select the appropriate menu option for your computer:
    - PC: Select Tools | Settings. (Or in newer versions of Firefox | Preferences.
    - Mac: Select Firefox | Preferences.
     2. Select Privacy.
     3. Select your version of Firefox:
    - Older versions of Firefox: Go to "Firefox will:" Create, select use custom settings.
    - Newer versions of Firefox: Go to the next step.
     4. Make sure that the check box is activated to Accept third-party cookies.
     5. Make sure that Viral Tech is listed under the "Exceptions".
     6. Click OK.
     7. Close the browser and open it again.

Apple Safari

* Safari version 3.0:

Operating Systems:
- PC Safari 3: Windows XP and Vista
- PC Safari 4 to 5: Windows XP, Vista and 7
- Mac Safari 3 to 4: Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6
- Mac Safari 5: Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7

     1. Select the appropriate menu option for your computer:
    - PC: Select Tools | Settings.
    - Mac: Select Safari | Settings.
     2. Open the Security tab.
     3. Select the Cookies Always option.
     4. Close the window.
     5. Close the browser and open it again.

Google Chrome

Operating Systems:
- Windows XP, Vista and 7
- Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7

     1. Select the appropriate menu option for your computer:
    - PC: Select Tools | Options.
    - Mac: Click Tools | Settings.
     2. Choose Details.
    - The "Options - Details" is displayed.
     3. Under data protection on content settings.
    - The Details tab - Content Settings will be displayed.
     4. Go under "Content Settings" Cookie.
     5. Depending on your version, select one of the options to Allow cookies by default or Allow local data.
     6. Close the browser and open it again.
