The Sony Corporation, based in Japan, was founded in 1958, and its origins go back to 1946 as the Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo company that specialised in repair of electronic equipment.
The corporation currently encompasses more than one hundred companies around the world and employs about 160,000 employees whose activities extend into many fields, including: manufacturing of semiconductors to music, film and video game production that are sold to the general public.
