The Japanese brand Panasonic started operations in 1918 under the name of Matsushita. With three employees at the time, the brand manufactured household electrical products.

These days Panasonic is one of the largest manufacturers in the world of electronics for the general public and employs more than 290,000 people worldwide. The first Panasonic LED TV were introduced in 2010, and came equipped with Edge LED backlight. In 2012, Panasonic introduced LED TVs with a new design through the so-called Crystal Frame range that included Smart Viera models using Edge LED Local Dimming technology.
