More Information and Detailed Specifications
The new α77 II keeps your subject in crisp focus! The camera is based on Sony's renowned models α77 and α700 and offers advanced amateurs a number of exciting improvements in a tough, weather-resistant body that is ready for any challenge.
Image quality is improved while the sensitivity is increased by approximately 20 percent, so you get incredibly detailed still photos and Full HD videos even in low light. There have also been improvements in terms of continuous shooting, and there are now several new video features for filmmakers.
Best of all, however, is that the α77 II now comes with an advanced autofocus system. With nearly twice as wide area coverage compared to its predecessor, surpassing the α77 II AF capabilities of any other professional camera.
New generation 79-point AF system
The α77 II is equipped with 79 autofocus points including 15 intersections that are located within the central area of the sensor. There is also a dedicated F2.8 AF point placed horizontally in the middle of the sensor. The point that is located centrally on the sensor supports apertures up to F2.8, and ensures maximum AF precision when optics with large apertures are used. AF system works well in low light, providing an accurate representation of the subject in scenes with light levels as low as EV-2 (ISO100) where even the human eye may have trouble seeing the small details.
24.3 megapixel Exmor ™ CMOS sensor with improved sensitivity
The 24.3 megapixel Exmor™ CMOS image sensor has the same "gapless on-chip" construction used in the α7R and α6000. Thanks to a series of last-generation image innovations, the camera now has a 20 percent higher sensitivity than its predecessor with the same number of pixels. The camera will thus deliver incredible detail and performance with low noise across a sensitivity scale from ISO 100 to 25600. A77 II continuous bursts endurance surpasses many other professional cameras. A77 II series can take up to 60 full-resolution JPEG images at a maximum continuous speed of approximately 12 frames per second (in Continuous Advance Priority AE mode).
See it your way with OLED Tru-Finder and a 3-way tilt LCD
Framing and focusing is a pleasure through the clear XGA OLED Tru-Finder ™ with 236,000 dot resolution. With three times the contrast and resolution capability, you will see exactly how the final image will look like and thus accurately judge the effect of adjusting focus, exposure and other settings before pressing the shutter button. A wide viewing angle and high eye-point is complemented by advanced options settings for brightness and color adjustments.
Tough enough for serious enthusiasts
The weatherproof and lightweight magnesium body is designed to withstand the demands of serious enthusiasts who are in search of the perfect picture. The camera is comfortable to hold and has been enhanced with a large, rounded grip. Buttons and controls are protected by a dust and moisture-resistant coating, and a double-layer protection exists around all openings including contacts and memory card slots.
Professional video with continuous AF
A77 II can record Full HD 60p / 50p and 24p video using AVCHD 2.0 format. As with still images, allowing Translucent Mirror Technology and continuous AF that gives you an accurate focusing of subjects when shooting movies.
A number of advanced features that appeal directly to serious filmmakers include a system that offers AF tracking with three sensitivity settings, a professional Zebra peeking function and volume measurement. An HDMI output lets you see the footage on an external monitor and the possibility of storing uncompressed data.
One-touch wireless connection and remote control for smartphone
Built-in Wi-Fi enables you to share your photos with one simple touch with XperiaTM, NFC-enabled Android smartphones and tablets. One touch also enables Smart Remote Control to connect the camera to a mobile phone and allows you to take pictures from a distance.
