WinToUSB is available in three versions: the free version, professional and enterprise. If you only intend to use the program to install Windows 10 on a memory stick the free version is all you need. The Professional version offers several options when it comes to cloning of Windows, and enterprise offers advanced features for businesses.
Instructions on How to Use WinToUSB
1. Download WinToUSB from The installer file has a size of around 5 MB, but you need a memory stick with at least 32 GB of free storage. If you don't have one that size, they are around £10 to buy.

2. Get Windows 10 as an ISO file. You can create a ISO file with the Media Creation Tool that you can download from Follow the instructions on the Microsoft website to download Windows 10 as an IOS file, if you're having trouble.

3. Run the program WinToUSB from your PC and select "English" for the language. Agreed to the license agreement and select an installation folder on your PC.

Once you open the program you will see on the left side a window that gives you access to three tools that are represented by different icons. Top icon (the default option) gives you access to tools that can be used to install Windows on a memory stick via an ISO file. The middle icon can be used to install Windows from CD-ROM to a memory stick. At the bottom, you have a tool that can be used to clone Windows to a USB drive. In this guide, we show you how to install Windows 10 on a memory stick.

4. The default is ISO to USB. Click on the little box on the right-hand side and find the IOS file you created with the media creation tool on your PC. Normally this will be saved in your documents or downloads. You will then get a list of the operating system, in our example Windows 10.

Click Next button to continue.

5. Plug in your USB memory stick and select the drive via "Please select the destination disk" window. Remember that memory stick should have storage capacity of 32 GB, if you install Windows 10.

Also be aware that everything on the memory stick will be formatted and deleted during this operation.

6. You will eventually see a window that gives you the opportunity to define "system partition" and "boot partition". Pick a number of "virtual hard disk size" that is larger than 32 GB, and click the Next button.

7. It will now begin to install Windows 10 on your USB memory stick. Note that installation can take a long time (a few hours or longer), because memory sticks aren't particularly fast. In our case, the installation took three hours. It's best to leave your PC alone, while it installs, or at the very least, don't perform heavy processing tasks.
Run Windows from a USB Flash Drive
To start your PC from a memory stick, you need to go into the BIOS on your PC. It varies from PC to PC on how to do this, but you must press a particular key during startup, often F8 or Esc. You will then get a message during startup, but you must be quick because the message will only be visible for a few seconds. To achieve this, please feel free to experiment with different keys. You will find information about this in the documentation of your PC or by searching online.
