VLC Media Player has long been one of the most popular multimedia players on the market. The program is free, it is open source, and it is easy to use. One of the advantages of this player is that it supports most video formats, without the need to install additional codecs.
VLC Media Player can play most videos, including incomplete or damaged files. The player can also access video files on ISO files, even if the underlying system does not support ISO files.
One of the features of VLC Media Player is that it ignores the zone distribution of DVDs. That means you can watch a movie, no matter which zone it belongs to.
VLC Media Player can also view streamed content. The player supports Direct Media Object (DMO), and can be used to watch DVB-C, DVB-T and DVB-S channels. It can be run directly from a memory stick, or an external storage device.
The program supports formats such as MKV, Ogg, Mov, FLAC, MPC, MPEG-1, H.265, WMV3 and VC-1. It also supports subtitles.
